4. Configuración e instalación
4.1 Instalación de la batería
The Kidde 7DCOC alarm is battery-operated and requires 3 AA alkaline batteries. If batteries are not pre-installed, open the battery compartment on the back of the unit and insert the batteries, matching the polarity indicators (+ and -).

For optimal detection, install the CO alarm in the following locations:
- On every level of your home, especially near sleeping areas.
- Within 10 feet (3 meters) of fuel-burning appliances.

- Mark the positions for the two mounting screws using the alarm's keyhole slots as a template.
- Drill two holes and insert the provided wall plugs.
- Insert the screws, leaving a small gap between the screw head and the wall.
- Align the keyhole slots on the back of the alarm with the screws and slide the alarm down to secure it.

For Tabletop/Shelf Placement:
Simply place the alarm on a flat, stable surface in your chosen location. Ensure it is not easily knocked over and is within audible range of sleeping areas.

5. Instrucciones de funcionamiento
5.1 Encendido
Once batteries are installed, the alarm will automatically power on and begin its initial self-test. The digital display will show '0 PPM' (parts per million) under normal conditions, and the green LED will flash periodically, indicating normal operation.
5.2 Indicadores LED
- LED verde: Flashes approximately every 30 seconds, indicating normal operation and sufficient battery power.
- LED rojo: Illuminates and flashes rapidly when the alarm detects dangerous levels of carbon monoxide.
5.3 Pantalla digital
The digital display continuously shows the detected carbon monoxide levels in PPM. In the absence of CO, it typically displays '0 PPM'.

- Test the alarm's electronic circuit and horn. The alarm will sound, and the red LED will flash.
- Silence a sounding alarm for a short period (if CO levels are not critically high).

When CO is detected at dangerous levels, the alarm will sound a loud intermittent horn, and the red LED will flash. The digital display will show the detected CO concentration. Follow these steps:
- Immediately move to fresh air outdoors or open all doors and windows.
- Call emergency services (fire department or 911/local equivalent).
- Do not re-enter the premises until it has been aired out and the CO source has been identified and corrected.
6. Mantenimiento
6.1 Pruebas semanales
Test your CO alarm weekly by pressing and holding the Prueba / Reinicio button until the alarm sounds. This confirms the unit's electronic circuitry and horn are functioning correctly.
6.2 Limpieza
Clean the alarm regularly to prevent dust and debris from accumulating. Use a soft, damp cloth to wipe the exterior. Do not use cleaning solvents or spray directly onto the alarm. Do not remove the cover or attempt to clean the interior.
6.3 Reemplazo de batería
The alarm will indicate a low battery condition with a chirp and a 'Lb' message on the digital display. Replace all three AA alkaline batteries immediately. Refer to section 4.1 for battery installation instructions.
6.4 End of Life Warning
The Kidde 7DCOC has a 10-year sensor life. After approximately 10 years from the date of manufacture, the unit will indicate an end-of-life warning (e.g., 'End' on the display or specific chirp pattern). When this occurs, the entire alarm unit must be replaced.
