5. Configuración

Follow these steps to properly set up your Pro-Ject Phono Box S2.

5.1. Conexiones

  1. Ensure all audio components are turned off before making connections.
  2. Conecte los cables de salida RCA de su tocadiscos a la 'In' RCA jacks on the rear of the Phono Box S2. Ensure left and right channels are correctly matched.
  3. Connect the ground wire from your turntable to the terminal de tierra on the Phono Box S2. This helps reduce hum.
  4. Conectar el 'Out' RCA jacks of the Phono Box S2 to a line-level input on your amplifier or receiver (e.g., CD, Aux, Line In). Do not connect to a phono input on your amplifier, as this will result in distorted sound.
  5. Connect the supplied 18V DC power supply to the '18V DC' input on the rear of the Phono Box S2, then plug the power supply into a wall outlet.

5.2. DIP Switch Settings (Bottom Panel)

The Phono Box S2 features DIP switches on its underside, allowing you to adjust gain, input impedance, and input capacitance to match your specific phono cartridge. There are two sets of switches, one for the left channel and one for the right. Ensure both sets are configured identically.

Refer to your cartridge's specifications for recommended settings. If you are unsure, consult your cartridge manufacturer's documentation or an audio specialist.

Typical DIP Switch Configurations
ConfiguraciónDescripciónCommon Values / Purpose
Ganancia (dB)Ajusta el ampnivel de lificacion.40dB: Standard for Moving Magnet (MM) cartridges.
43dB: Slightly higher gain for MM, or some high-output MC.
60dB: Standard for Moving Coil (MC) cartridges.
63dB: Slightly higher gain for MC.
Input Impedance (Ohms)Sets the electrical load presented to the cartridge.47k Ohms: Standard for MM cartridges.
10/100/1k/2k Ohms: For MC cartridges, match to cartridge recommendation.
Capacitancia de entrada (pF)Sets the electrical capacitance presented to the cartridge.100pF/200pF/320pF/420pF: Primarily for MM cartridges. Match to cartridge recommendation, often combined with tonearm cable capacitance.

Nota: Always power off the Phono Box S2 and disconnect the power supply before changing DIP switch settings to avoid potential damage or unexpected behavior.
