5. Instalación y configuración
Follow these steps to properly install your retractable landing gear controller:
- Prepare la ubicación de montaje: Ensure the mounting surface on your RC plane is flat and provides sufficient clearance for the retracts to operate without obstruction. Refer to your aircraft's manual for specific landing gear bay dimensions.
- Mount the Retract Unit: Secure the retract unit using appropriate screws (not included unless specified) through the mounting holes on the unit's base. Ensure it is firmly attached to prevent movement during flight.
- Install the Landing Strut: Insert the 4mm diameter landing strut into the designated hole on the retract unit. Secure it using the provided set screw or mechanism.
- Conecte el cableado: The retract unit features a standard servo connector with three wires: Brown (Ground), Red (Positive/Power), and Orange (Signal). Connect this to the appropriate channel on your RC receiver or flight controller. Typically, a dedicated gear channel is used.
- Funcionalidad de prueba: With your RC system powered on and the aircraft securely supported, test the retracts. Ensure they extend and retract smoothly without binding or excessive noise. Adjust endpoints on your transmitter if necessary to prevent over-rotation or stalling.

6. Operación
Once installed and configured, the retractable landing gear operates via a switch on your RC transmitter, typically assigned to the gear channel. Activating the switch will command the retracts to either extend or retract. The units are designed for a 90-degree rotation, with a speed of approximately 1.1 to 1.3 seconds depending on voltage.
Ensure the landing gear is fully extended before takeoff and fully retracted after takeoff to reduce drag. Before landing, ensure the gear is fully extended and locked into position.
7. Mantenimiento
- Inspección regular: Periodically inspect the retract units for any signs of damage, wear, or loose connections. Check the mounting screws for tightness.
- Limpieza: Keep the retract mechanism free from dirt, dust, and debris, especially after flying in dusty or grassy conditions. A soft brush or compressed air can be used.
- Lubricación: Lightly lubricate moving parts with a suitable plastic-safe lubricant if you notice any stiffness or increased friction. Avoid over-lubrication, which can attract dirt.
- Integridad del cable: Check the wiring for any fraying, cuts, or damage. Repair or replace damaged wires immediately.
8. Solución de problemas
- Retracts Not Operating:
- Check power supply to the receiver/flight controller.
- Verify the retracts are correctly plugged into the receiver's gear channel.
- Ensure the transmitter's gear switch is functioning and assigned correctly.
- Inspeccione el cableado para detectar roturas o conexiones sueltas.
- Slow or Erratic Operation:
- Check for any binding or obstruction in the landing gear mechanism.
- Asegúrese de que el volumen de funcionamientotage is within the specified range (4.8V-6.0V). Low voltagPuede afectar el rendimiento.
- Clean and lightly lubricate the moving parts.
- Retracts Not Fully Extending/Retracting:
- Adjust the endpoints or travel limits for the gear channel on your transmitter.
- Check for physical obstructions preventing full travel.
9. Consejos para el usuario
- Comprobaciones previas al vuelo: Always perform a functional check of your landing gear before each flight.
- Funcionamiento suave: If your retracts feel stiff, a small amount of dry lubricant (like graphite powder or silicone spray) can help ensure smooth operation without attracting dirt.
- Gestión del cableado: Secure all wiring to prevent it from interfering with moving parts or becoming damaged during flight.
- Distribución del peso: When designing or modifying your aircraft, consider the weight and placement of the retracts to maintain proper balance.
