Instrucciones de montaje (configuración)

Before you begin, ensure you have a clean, well-lit workspace and all necessary tools (e.g., plastic cement, hobby knife, sprue cutters, sandpaper, tweezers). Carefully remove parts from the sprues using sprue cutters to avoid damage. Trim any excess plastic (flash) with a hobby knife or sandpaper.

  1. Montaje de la cabina: Assemble the cockpit components (seat, control panel, pilot figure if included). Paint these parts before gluing them into the fuselage.
  2. Montaje del fuselaje: Glue the cockpit assembly into one half of the fuselage. Carefully join the two fuselage halves, ensuring proper alignment. Use plastic cement sparingly.
  3. Montaje del ala: Assemble the main wing sections. Attach any internal structures or landing gear bays as indicated in the detailed instructions.
  4. Joining Wings and Fuselage: Attach the assembled wing sections to the fuselage. Ensure a strong bond and correct dihedral (wing angle).
  5. Tren de aterrizaje: Assemble and attach the landing gear struts and wheels. Decide whether to build the model with landing gear extended (for display) or retracted (for in-flight display).
  6. Tiendas externas: Assemble and attach any external fuel tanks, reconnaissance pods, or weapons as desired.
  7. Partes claras: Carefully attach the clear canopy using clear-part-friendly glue (e.g., white glue or specific clear parts cement) to avoid fogging.
  8. Detalles finales: Attach smaller details such as antennas, pitot tubes, and other delicate parts.

Painting and Decals (Finishing)

  1. Preparación de la superficie: Ensure the assembled model is clean and free of dust, grease, or fingerprints. Fill any gaps with putty and sand smooth.
  2. Cebado: Apply a thin, even coat of primer to the entire model. This helps paint adhere better and reveals any imperfections.
  3. Cuadro: Apply paint in thin, even coats. Refer to the kit's painting guide for recommended colors and camouflage patterns. Allow each coat to dry thoroughly before applying the next.
  4. Capa de brillo: Once painting is complete and dry, apply a gloss clear coat. This provides a smooth surface for decals and helps prevent "silvering."
  5. Aplicación de calcomanía:
    • Cut out each decal carefully, leaving a small border.
    • Dip the decal in lukewarm water for a few seconds until it slides freely on the backing paper.
    • Slide the decal onto the model in the desired position.
    • Gently blot away excess water with a soft cloth or cotton swab.
    • Use decal setting solutions (e.g., Micro Sol/Set) to help decals conform to panel lines and irregular surfaces.
  6. Intemperismo (opcional): After decals are dry, you may apply weathering effects (e.g., panel line washes, exhaust stains) to enhance realism.
  7. Final Clear Coat: Apply a final matte, satin, or gloss clear coat to seal the decals and weathering, protecting the finish.

Mantenimiento

Para garantizar la longevidad y la apariencia de su modelo:

  • Limpieza: Limpie el polvo regularmente con un cepillo suave y seco o con aire comprimido. Evite usar productos químicos agresivos o materiales abrasivos.
  • Manejo: Handle the model by its sturdy parts (e.g., fuselage, main wings) to prevent damage to delicate components like antennas or landing gear.
  • Almacenamiento: Store the model in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, which can cause paint fading or plastic warping. A display case is recommended to protect it from dust and accidental damage.

Solución de problemas

Parts not fitting correctly:
Ensure all sprue gates and flash are completely removed. Dry-fit parts before applying glue. If necessary, gently sand or trim mating surfaces for a better fit.
Glue marks or excess glue:
Use plastic cement sparingly. If excess glue appears, allow it to dry completely and then carefully sand or scrape it away. For clear parts, use white glue which dries clear and can be cleaned with water.
Paint issues (e.g., uneven coats, brush strokes):
Apply paint in multiple thin coats rather than one thick coat. Ensure paint is properly thinned. Allow adequate drying time between coats.
Decal silvering (clear film visible around decals):
Apply decals over a gloss surface. Use decal setting solutions to help decals conform. Ensure all air bubbles are pressed out from under the decal.

Consejos para el usuario

  • Dry-Fit Everything: Always test fit parts before applying glue. This helps identify and resolve fit issues early.
  • La paciencia es clave: Model building requires patience. Don't rush the assembly or painting process; enjoy each step.
  • Fotos de referencia: Look for real-world photos of the Mirage III R for inspiration on painting, weathering, and detailing to achieve a realistic finish.
  • Ventilación: Work in a well-ventilated area, especially when using glues and paints, to avoid inhaling fumes.
