4.1. Controles e indicadores
- Interruptor giratorio: Selects the pin to be tested (1-5).
- Indicadores LED (1-5): Illuminate to show corresponding pins connected.
- LED de tierra: Illuminates to indicate a connection (short circuit) from a pin to the shell/ground.
- Battery Check LED: Illuminates when the rotary switch is fully clockwise, indicating a charged battery.
4.2. Tipos de conectores
The MCT-10 supports the following connector types for testing:
- XLR: Male and Female (3-pin)
- TRS Jack: 6.35 mm (1/4 pulgada)
- Phono (RCA): Standard RCA connectors
- ESTRUENDO: 3-pin, 5-pin, 7-pin, 8-pin (MIDI, etc.)
- SpeakON: 4 polos
- Banana Jacks: For continuity testing with included leads.
5. Configuración
5.1. Instalación de la batería
The MCT-10 requires a 9V battery (not included) for operation. The battery compartment is located on the bottom of the unit.
- Localice la tapa del compartimiento de la batería en la parte inferior de la unidad.
- Lift the cover to withdraw it.
- Connect a 9V battery to the battery clip, ensuring correct polarity (+ to + and - to -).
- Place the battery into the compartment and replace the cover, ensuring it clicks securely into place.

6. Instrucciones de funcionamiento
The MCT-10 allows for comprehensive testing of various cable types. Always ensure the cable is disconnected from all equipment before testing.
6.1. Standard Cable Testing (XLR, TRS, Phono, DIN, SpeakON)
- Connect one end of the cable to be tested into the corresponding input port on one side of the MCT-10.
- Connect the other end of the cable into the corresponding output port on the opposite side of the MCT-10. For example, an XLR male connector into the XLR female port, and an XLR female connector into the XLR male port.
- Rotate the rotary switch clockwise, cycling through pins 1 to 5.
- Observe los indicadores LED:
- A pair of LEDs (e.g., '1' on the left and '1' on the right) will illuminate simultaneously if the corresponding pins are connected correctly.
- If a pin is short-circuited to the shell/ground, the "Ground" LED will illuminate along with the corresponding pin LED.
- If an LED does not illuminate for a specific pin, it indicates an open circuit (broken wire) for that pin.
- If unexpected LEDs illuminate, it indicates a short circuit between pins.

6.2. Continuity Testing with Banana Jacks
The MCT-10 can also be used as a basic continuity tester for individual wires or components using the included test leads.
- Insert the banana plugs of the red and black test leads into the corresponding banana jacks on the MCT-10.
- Touch the alligator clips to the two points you wish to test for continuity.
- If there is continuity (a complete circuit), the "Battery Check" LED will illuminate, and an audible beeper will sound.
6.3. Función de comprobación de la batería
To check the battery level of the MCT-10:
- Rotate the rotary switch fully clockwise to the "Battery Check" position.
- If the "Battery Check" LED illuminates brightly, the battery has sufficient charge. If it is dim or does not illuminate, the battery needs to be replaced.
7. Mantenimiento
7.1. Limpieza
Clean the exterior of the MCT-10 with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or harsh chemicals, as these may damage the finish or internal components.
7.2. Almacenamiento
Guarde el dispositivo en un lugar fresco y seco, alejado de la luz solar directa y de temperaturas extremas. Si lo va a guardar durante un periodo prolongado, retire la batería para evitar fugas.
7.3. Reemplazo de la batería
Replace the 9V battery when the "Battery Check" LED appears dim or does not illuminate during the battery check function, or if the unit fails to power on. Refer to Section 5.1 for battery installation instructions.
8. Solución de problemas
If you encounter issues with your MCT-10 Cable Tester, refer to the following table for common problems and solutions:
| Problema | Posible causa | Solución |
|---|---|---|
| Unit does not power on / No LEDs illuminate. | Batería muerta o instalada incorrectamente. | Verifique la polaridad de la batería. Reemplácela con una batería nueva de 9 V. |
| Incorrect pin readings / LEDs not lighting up for a good cable. | Cable not fully inserted. Rotary switch not set correctly. | Ensure cable connectors are fully seated. Rotate the switch through all positions. |
| "Ground" LED illuminates unexpectedly. | Short circuit between a pin and the cable's shield/ground. | The cable is faulty and needs repair or replacement. |
| Multiple LEDs illuminate for a single pin selection. | Short circuit between different pins within the cable. | The cable is faulty and needs repair or replacement. |
